Acrylic & Oil on Canvas
40 x 45"
This painting was inspired by Castle Pines in Colorado and evolved over a number of years. The actual course changes vegetations and elevations drastically through the routing. I was intrigued by the layout, especially how each nine ends somewhat symmetrically toward the center at the top. I wanted to show differences among the holes, but not try to create an illusion of different elevations so I changed the contrast of the surround on each of the green shapes relative to their elevations. Layers of glazes were added in searching for the right balance of color. Trees were not treated so much as shapes, but a continuing texture built up in alternating reds and greens. The white colored shapes derived from bunkers were modified and repainted last. This painting is available for sale.
