Druids Glen Golf Club: South of Dublin in County Wicklow lies Druids Glen. Routed among the stunningly beautiful hill country of "the Garden of Ireland" this Tom Craddock, Pat Ruddy designed course opened in 1995. The following year the course hosted the first of four straight Irish Opens and was named European Golf Course of the Year in 2000. A renowned landscape gardener, Jack O'Connor, was commissioned to add background color the course. O'Connor planted hundreds of thousands of flowers and shrubs in addition to trees that create a magically fantastic atmosphere of color and texture. But the player should not be distracted by the surrounding beauty, for the course with its sharp doglegs and elevation changes is very demanding and requires tactical course management. The 18th, originally a short par 5 under 500 yards, has been changed to very strong and challenging par 4 to finish.
Anders Bessermann and Lars Rudbeck have recreated an extraordinarily beautiful interpretation of Druids Glen for Links 2003. The course is available for free and may be found for download at the Links Corner.
