Frankfurter: This heavily wooded course outside of Frankfurt, Germany was designed by H. S. Colt and John Morrison and opened in 1928. It has since hosted many German Open Championships. The course is not long by modern standards, but with thick woods encroaching on the fairways of every hole there is no room for error off the tee. Sometimes the tees are recessed within a shoot of trees. Often trees form barriers to the favorable fairway areas so that the player must shape shots around the trees. Approach shots also call for accuracy because the greens are large and very long putts can make for a difficult 2-putt.
