Newcelle - Handshake: The first operation of a Newcelle project is the hand-shake. A handshake develops between two participants; the idea is to get to know one another through drawing. The initiator draws a line within a circle and then invites a participant to develop his/her own line. The initiator then develops a second line and the participant finishes. The hand-shake process evolves through 4 line developments.
In this example I worked with Nancy Uyemura. Nancy began within the circle with a very light pencil colored line that changed hues as the line circled and curled. My initial line developed in intervals separated by a circle - they are the outlined/enclosed sequences. Nancy then added a line in watercolor that mimicked the change in her initial line. I then added the broad black curve linear element.
There is no "mantra" here. Newcelle does not demand a flat plane, nor does Newcelle demand illusory space. Newcelle attempts to strip away our "user illusions" and reinvigorate the perceptual dialogue.
