Acrylic & Oil on Canvas
60 x 68"
This painting, inspired by the layout of well known Harbour Town on the lower coast of South Carolina, attempts to use the whites of the bunkers and the contrasting reds of the (greens) to create a spot to spot cadence or rhythm around the surface. The diagonals in the fairways echo the appearance of mow lines that can be seen from above; they add zip and good continuation to the sequential routing of the course. The irregular water shapes, as defined here with the dark green-blue, contrast and compete with the relative consistency or the reds and the less predictable whites. The large scale of the painting requires a more physical interaction between viewer and image from various viewing distances...not apparent here.
