The K-Club, Palmer Course: This is the site of the 36th Ryder Cup Matches held in September 22-24, 2006.  Leading up to the matches there was much discussion about the matches being played in Ireland on an American style parkland course designed by the Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay team.  Many felt that this prestigious event should have been played on one of the great links courses more characteristic of the golfing tradition and history of Ireland.  However, the wealthy and influential Michael Smurfit was able to lure the event here where he established this luxurious facility in 1991.
