Sahalee Country Club: In 1998 The PGA Championship came here and the world of golf was introduced to this course of monumental beauty and perilous challenge. Located in Redmond, Washington, it was the first major championship to be played in the Pacific Northwest and the character of the course reflects the majestic beauty of the heavily wooded forest area. Cedar, hemlock and fir trees line the fairways of the layout which draws its name from the Chinook phrase, "High Heavenly Ground". The course was designed by Ted Robinson and opened in 1969. Rees Jones modified the bunkers in 1995 bringing them closer to the greens. Vijay Singh won the 80th PGA Championship, his first Major, and the course proved its value as a championship venue. The 2002 NEC World Golf Championship, won by Craig Perry, was played here and the PGA Championship will return in 2010.
